Born in Ann Arbor, MI in 1973, Jon moved east with his family when he was just an infant. His family started off in Swansea, NH before settling in Bedford, NH. Jon attended high school in Manchester, NH. It was in high school where Jon fell in love with photography. Jon enrolled in a semester long black and white photography course his senior year in high school. Armed with his Pentax K1000, thanks to his parents for putting that camera in his hands, Jon was a quick study both behind the camera and in the darkroom. Jon's images were mainstays of various displays in his high school. Jon attended the University of Connecticut at Storrs as a History Education major and received a Masters Degree in the spring of 1996. While at UConn, Jon was a member of the Photo Club, shooting, developing, and printing his own work. During Jon's vacations from UConn, he would sneak back into the darkroom at his old high school, with his teacher's blessings. Upon graduation, Jon accepted a teaching position at the International American School in Warsaw, Poland. It was there where Jon became intrigued with Photojournalism and travel photography. Jon also met his future wife, Lori. Together, they traveled to Budapest, Amsterdam, Paris, and much of Germany. During his adventures in Prague, Jon's beloved Pentax K1000 was stolen. This shot of Prague is one of the last one's he took with that camera. Upon their arrival back in the United States in the fall of 1997, Jon and Lori each took teaching positions in Connecticut. Jon taught at Conard High School in West Hartford, CT and then at Granby Memorial Middle School in Granby, CT. During this same time Jon asked Lori to be his wife and they were married on July 10, 1999. All the while, Jon continued to photograph people, places, and things, eventually making the leap into professional photography, dedicating himself to documenting one of life's sweeter moments, the marriage of two people. Jon and Lori have two beautiful daughters, Abby and Emma.
